Hey, wonderful soul!
I’m Megan, the heart (and slightly dirt-stained hands) behind Gutsy Gardenista.
I believe anyone can grow their own food with the right guidance, a little courage, and plenty of heart. With over 15 years of real-life gardening experience (including three backyard gardens built from scratch), I’ve figured out what actually works—and what’s just noise. No fancy jargon, no wasted space, no sunburned weekends pulling weeds. Just clear, simple gardening methods that work, even if you’ve never planted a thing in your life!

My story
We all start somewhere. . .
As a young married couple with a growing family, my husband and I knew the value of growing our own food. We were determined to have a garden. My first garden was tiny but mighty–producing tomatoes, strawberries, grapes, and peppers! Right there on our 4×4 foot patio, I grew fruits and veggies out of any container I could get my hands on.
Fast forward a few years, 2 homes, and 3 children later, my garden dream had grown even bigger! All I had was determination and a Pinterest board fueling my dream. I poured hours into adding flower and garden beds, planting, watering, and troubleshooting—only to end up battling pests, diseases, and a whole lot of frustration. I was this close to giving up… until I realized I didn’t need to fight nature—I just needed to work with it.

Once I focused on prevention instead of constant problem-solving, everything changed. My garden came alive—healthy, productive, and surprisingly easy to care for! Before long, friends and neighbors started coming to me with their own gardening questions. Helping them turn bare patches of dirt into thriving, beautiful gardens lit a spark in me.
Now, through Gutsy Gardenista, I help beginners skip the overwhelm and jump straight into success. My goal is to teach you the same strategies and simple frameworks that help your garden grow strong from day one—so you can spend less time guessing and more time enjoying fresh, homegrown food with your family.

I really believe that:
“You don’t need a green-thumb to grow a garden- just the right plan, a little grit, and the guts to start!”
